Celebrations and Traditions

Dear Parents,
It is my objective to create a classroom environment fostering respect and understanding of others' religious views, celebrations and customs. Currently many of our students' families are fasting and visiting the Mosque for Ramadan and as such I've done my best to explain why Ramadan is a valuable time of the year for Islamic faith. Luckily some of our students felt comfortable enough sharing their experiences during Eid ul-Fitr, what an authentic experience for us all to listen to and share in.

I will continue to explain general celebrations that occur throughout the year and if you are able to send your child in with anything that can help us to better connnect with your celebration/customs at home PLEASE DO! We can borrow something for the day, or the week and make sure it is returned safely.

In honour of Ramadan, I have taught the children a song about Ramadan. We will practise it and perform it for some of the classes in our school. I thought they may want to practise at home! The words are below; And the link to the song is:
