Viva Chile!!
Today grade 2 students helped count down the hours and minutes to which all 33 miners were rescued in Chile. I like to involve students in (appropriate) World Issues, so that they can keep the larger world at hand in mind.
We also wrote letters to the Chilean Miners. Here are some of our letters:
Ola! Dear: Chilean Miners,
I am Sena from Ankara, Turkey. I would like to ask you three questions. Did you skin burn in the underground rocky cave? Is the temperature more hotter than the sweaty desert? Did you get any cover? If I would be without my mom, then I would cry. You are so lucky. Good luck!
From: Sena

Dear; Chilean Miner,
I am Monica from Bellevue, America. I would like to ask three questions;
Does your skin burn in the ground? Do you get hungry very often? Is the temperature as hot as the sun? If I were trapped underground for 75 days I would have felt I should have gotten another job.
Yours, Monica
P.S. Make sure you marry your fiancee!
Dear: Chilean Miner,
My name is Jihan and I am from Turkey. Did you dig minerals? Where are you going now? How did you go in the cave? When I would live in a cave I would watch T.V. like you.

Dear: Chilean Miner,
My name is Lora. I am 6 years old. How did you bring games and tv? Was it hot or cold? Did you find anything underground? Did you miss land so much? Were there any animals? Did you have fun at the ground playing games and watching tv? Did you find any minerals? Did you get sick? Why didn't you wear any clothes? Didn't you get hurt? If I were going with you to the journey to underground rescue, I would be so emotional. I would be so hostile, but when we get saved, I felt relaxed. When you got out did you take a bath, change clothes or eat some more food? Or go to sleep?
From: Lora
