Student Stars of the Week

Dear Parents,
Beginning August 30th we will recognize our Student Stars of the Week!
At the front of the classroom, we have a space that is about 2 X 2.5 feet.
What I will ask from the families is to choose various things that represent your child such as: Family pictures; Trip photos; Flag; Baby Pictures; Pictures from Magazines or the Internet of student's favourite food, sport, activity, books, traditions, celebrations etc. The sky is the limit!
On the Friday prior to your child's "Week" I will send home a few pages that have a title "Star of the Week!" And children can draw pictures that represent themselves (This is optional if you cannot find pictures).

Students are also encouraged to bring in cultural objects that could fit inside of a ziplock baggy and pinned on the star board. 3D objects are welcome.

On Monday, of your child's week, they will spend 10 minutes posting their special/valuable pictures/objects on the star board and it will remain up there all week. They will get a chance to share the board with their friends and display their home life and a bit about themselves.

Besides helping your child prepare their pictures/objects/drawings for their board that week; I'm asking that parents write a letter to the class, which I will read aloud. In the letter you can include information about a funny family story, family trips, family facts, fun facts about your child or anything at all you wish to share! I will read it aloud to the class!

We are doing this in an effort to create a closer community and connect school to home. Please see a picture that I borrowed from the internet, just to give you an idea! When you child creates their board, I will post the picture on our BLOG!
